Dog/Cat Licenses
Pursuant to township ordinance, all dogs and cats seven months or older must be licensed and have a current tag affixed to a collar or harness.
- Dog and cat licenses are due by February 28th of each year. If the renewal is received after the February 28th deadline, a late fee is due.
- Rabies vaccinations must be current through December 31st in order to comply with the New Jersey State Department of Health requirement that rabies vaccinations expire no more than 2 months prior to the end of the licensing period.
- Proof of rabies vaccinations must be produced before the license will be issued. See below for information regarding our rabies immunization voucher program.
- Proof of neutering/spaying is required in order to obtain exemption from additional fees.
- Newly acquired dogs and cats which attain licensing age must be licensed within 10 days after such acquisition.
License applications are automatically mailed in December to all registered pet owners. For your convenience, we have also made these applications available for download from our website. See the Applications and Forms page.

Free Rabies Immunization Voucher Program
Free rabies vaccinations are available to all dogs and cats belonging to Rockaway Borough residents through the participating veterinarians listed below. These are discreet clinics located at the offices of participating veterinarians between January 1 and February 28. The health department issues vouchers that are accepted by participating local veterinarians and included in the license renewal packet. You will not be required to pay in advance; the veterinarian takes care of the paperwork. You MUST call ahead and tell them you will be using the voucher. You MUST also bring the license application and a completed rabies voucher form with you to the appointment.
If you have questions, please contact the Randolph Health Department at 973-627-2000 ext. 221.
