Ordinance Introduced

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the following ordinance, as herein summarized, was introduced at a regular meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Rockaway held on January 9, 2020, and that said ordinance was passed on first reading by title only. Said ordinance will be further considered for final passage by the said Borough Council at the Community Center, 21-25 Union Street, Rockaway, New Jersey at a regular meeting to be held on February 13, 2020 at 7:30 p.m., at which time and place all persons who may be interested therein will be given an opportunity to be heard concerning same.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that a complete copy of said ordinance may be obtained at no charge at the Office of the Borough Clerk, 1 East Main Street, Rockaway, New Jersey, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

CALENDAR YEAR 2019
ORDINANCE TO EXCEED THE MUNICIPAL BUDGET APPROPRIATION LIMITS
AND TO ESTABLISH A CAP BANK (N.J.S.A. 40A:4-45.14)

DESCRIPTION: This ordinance authorizes the Borough of Rockaway, that, in the CY 2020 budget year, the final appropriations of the Borough of Rockaway shall be increased by 3.5%, amounting to $332,991.00, and that the CY 2020 municipal budget for the Borough of Rockaway be approved and adopted in accordance with this ordinance. Any amount authorized that is not appropriated as part of the final budget shall be retained as an exception to final appropriation in either of the next two succeeding years.

Christmas Trees will be picked up until Friday, January 17, 2020, provided they are left curbside.

It's not too late to sign up for spring youth sports.
Track and Field onsite registration dates are February 1st and February 8th, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson School.
